Plan the work as well as the money
A family may need to coordinate a final hospital bill, memorial arrangements, documents and ordinary bills while income and access to resources change. Choose a family coordinator and a backup. Discuss preferences respectfully; a written preference is useful, but circumstances at the time may require flexibility.
If living abroad is relevant, list local contacts and the possible need for cremation, transport or repatriation. Get actual requirements and quotations from the relevant providers and authorities; these can differ by location. Do not assume a package selected years earlier covers a different situation.
A fictional expense allocation
Fictional household example. Planning amounts only, not provider prices or an Everest benefit illustration. Access and claim eligibility must be confirmed.
| Need / resource | Amount |
|---|---|
| Uncovered final hospital bill | ₱80,000 |
| Chosen memorial arrangements | ₱120,000 |
| Immediate household / document costs | ₱20,000 |
| Total planning need | ₱220,000 |
| Accessible money reserved for this purpose | ₱70,000 |
| Confirmed eligible benefit assumed for example | ₱100,000 |
| Remaining planning gap | ₱50,000 |
Separate money available immediately from amounts requiring documents and claim processing. A family may need a bridge while a valid claim is processed. Never put passwords, PINs or authentication secrets in a shared checklist; record where authorized documents can be found instead.
A family preparation checklist
- Coordinator and backup, with agreed contact details.
- Healthcare provider, employer, educator and relevant service contacts.
- Location of policy documents, identification and required certificates.
- Memorial preferences and circumstances that may change them.
- Available funds, ownership, access and claim steps.
- Beneficiary information reviewed with each provider.
- Ordinary household bills and family support during the transition.
Then compare implementation options
Everest is a product option to explore after clarifying these needs. Read the exact variant, benefits and terms. Do not apply one flexible-use example to every variant or assume that every service, location or timing is included.
